Fall E-Newsletter

Good afternoon everyone!

Our fall e-newsletter - the Drive Thru Edition - is now available for viewing at http://stonyvalley.com/Fall2015-Vol3No4.pdf. It lists some exciting upcoming events as well. Our program last night at the East Hanover Township Historical Society in Grantville had a wonderful turnout and we hope to see some of you out at our program at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park in Pine Grove tonight as well. Remember this Sunday is Drive Thru from 9 am to 3 pm, with more details inside the newsletter, and if all goes well we'll also have a Spook Hike this Halloween too! (Please make sure to check back for potential cancellation notices for these two weather dependent events.)

Faces Behind The Blog

The website is dedicated to the rich history that has been left by the Schuylkill & Susquehanna Railroad (predominately in Stony Valley, but also in the other communities along the railroad’s former line in Dauphin, Lebanon and Schuylkill Counties, Pennsylvania), with hopes to teach the present generation about their heritage and how to discover the wilderness for themselves.

Schuylkill & Susquehanna RR Historian
A native of Central Pennsylvania, Brandy, has been studying the Schuylkill & Susquehanna Railroad since 1997, when she was in third grade. Having a fascination of American history since she was a child, she wanted to share her love of history with others, but not in the traditional classroom setting. She found Public Heritage to be the perfect fit for her while working and volunteering in various museums and historical societies. Brandy has a B.H. in American Studies, with a class focus on Museum Studies and Public Heritage, from Penn State Harrisburg, and presently operates StonyValley.com, sharing her love of history through the website, its social media, public presentations and historical hikes. She volunteers her time with the Cold Spring Preservation Project and the Mason-Dixon Council, BSA.
